THE DARKNESS' Debut Certified Gold
February 26, 2004THE DARKNESS' debut album, "Permission To Land", has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of more than 500,000 copies in the U.S., according to the BBC News.
The British rockers, who recently won three Brit Awards, sold 1.2 million copies of "Permission To Land" in the U.K. so far.
Their album is number 33 in the U.S., and much of their U.S. tour — which starts at the end of March — is now sold out.
THE DARKNESS' single "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" was among the most popular new songs added to U.S. radio playlists last week. In addition, it was number two in the download charts of two of the major digital music services, Napster and Apple iTunes.
